Why do I sometimes lose the connection between my Dell x50 handheld and printer when using the Bluetooth printing method?

Symptoms:

Some users are experiencing a problem with losing connection to the Bluetooth printer whenever the handheld goes on standby, or gets turned off.

Cause:

There is a problem in the ROM section of the handheld. We have found the cause of the problem, and also found the solution.

Resolution:

The solution requires a ROM update on each handheld computer that is having this problem (Note: this is only for the x50 model).

Please be aware of the following things before attempting this ROM update. You will be updating the ROM on this handheld. This is the memory where basic handheld functions are stored. If something were to happen during the update process, it could corrupt the ROM file and make the handheld useless. These are a few warnings from us, but please read the full instructions and warnings on Dell’s website (link will follow below).

• You MUST do this update from a stable PC.
• You must NOT touch the PC while the ROM update is installing.
• You must NOT break the Connection between the handheld and the PC.

• The update will do a Hard Reset on your handheld when the operation is complete. This means all data stored, or applications installed, or other settings on the handheld will be restored back to factory defaults but (data on the storage card will not be affected).The following link will take you to the ROM update webpage located on Dell’s website.   IF you are using the VGA model (Dell Axim X50v), you MUST use a different Rom update. It is also located on Dell’s website. Note: The X50v is not supported with ARS software.
