You are the only one logged in the system and you get a message that a file is in use by another user.
Symptoms:
You get a message regarding other users and you think the message is incorrect.
Cause:
Other users may be logged in.
Resolution:
When you get a message of:
“Files in use by [Name]”, do the following:
- Double check to make sure no one else is on the system.
Do this by going to Tools -> Administration -> Users currently logged in.
If someone else still shows logged in, verify that they are out of the system, if the user is still logged in, have them log out, otherwise select the user and delete it(click the trash can). - Once you have make sure no one else is in the system and your user name is the only name that appears on the Users Currently Logged In screen, click on ‘Clear Locks’.
This should clear any files that are in use by users that didn’t log out properly(system froze, errors..)
More information:
This can be a frequent problem if employees do not understand the problem and the necessity to properly log out.
