Unable to Print on Cloud

Issue: When trying to print from a cloud server or remote server, the default printer is showing that it is connected but it will not print. Printing a test page results in an error.

Explanation: The issue is caused by an incompatibility between the server and the printer’s drivers. This is typically found when they use the drivers that Microsoft finds when adding a printer.

Resolution: The issue can be resolved by downloading and installing generic printer drivers on the local computer that is connecting remotely. I have found the best way to find the legitimate drivers is to search for the printer and look for the windows server drivers. Uninstall the printer and reinstall using the drivers you download from the website. Once installed you can do a test print locally and it should print without issue. Once tested, connect to the server and try printing a test page. This may not always work and more investigation may be required. Past experiences required a completely separate driver from a different printer to get the printing to work on the server.
